Lake Skadar

Lake Skadar is a wetland whose extent changes with water levels. Its Montenegrin part is a national park and Ramsar site; Virpazar is a useful access point for exploring the lake at a measured pace.

Lake Skadar from Podgorica by Train and on the Water

Lake Skadar is best visited without trying to take it all in. From Podgorica, the train reaches Virpazar without a car; after that, choosing just one experience—an unhurried boat ride, kayaking or a visitor centre—reduces haste and pressure on a protected wetland.
